Kusatsu Onsen’s Thank You Day
On Sunday, May 27th Kusastu Onsen will be hosting a “Thank you Day.”
The day actually surrounds a traditional ceremony which involves retrieving natural ice
from the mountains, rhododendrons from the fields and placing them at the altar to pray for
sound health. This ceremony is rarely done as of late and is quite a sight.
At the Yubatake, hot water field in the middle of Kustatsu town, this ceremony will be
combined with a day to say thanks. Local products as well as shaved ice and tea will be
offered to guests by the staff of the onsen hotels. Products are free and offered on a first
come first serve basis.

Life After the B.O.E. is a comic by David Namisato, a former CIR in Aomori-ken. The online comic has ended, but the book is available to purchase.
The GAJET website is an online resource and community for JET Programme participants living and working in Gunma.
We hope that this site makes it easier for ALTs, CIRs and PAs to build a home away from home and to make the most of their stay in Japan.
