Accessible by car: take route 17 to route 13. Turn when you see the sign for Gunma no Mori.
Bus from Takasaki east exit, route 9, get off at Gunma no Mori station (35minutes).
This contemporary museum is modern architecture in the middle of beautifully manicured forest featuring collections from famous Gunma artists, as well as classic and modern Chinese, Japanese and Western art. Take a walk through the scenic Gunma no Mori or head over to the Gunma Prefectural Museum of History right next door.

Also located inside the immaculate, green Gunma no Mori. This roomy museum has separate rooms featuring Gunma’s history in primitive, ancient, medieval, early modern, and finally modern Japan. Get ready for an in-depth historical view of Gunma.

10 minutes walk from Takasaki station, west exit. Adjacent to City Hall.
This gallery is where many artistic and cultural events take place. There is also a recital hall where various classical performers have shows. Tickets for events are sold at the city gallery itself. Scheduled events are always changing, so have a look at the website for more details on what’s happening.

Pay parking is available at Southpark parking center right outside the museum, or at LABI (Yamada Denki). The museum will give you a parking voucher valid for 1 hour.

Has its own collection on offer. Often, special exhibits from the Takasaki Museum of Art will spill over into this museum, splitting the exhibition into two buildings. You will only be charged one admission fee for both buildings, just make sure to keep your ticket with you.
