Options

At this year’s Canyons Adventure and Mixer, we’re able to offer a variety of options to suit everyone’s needs. Whether you want a day full of action-packed adventure, or simply want to relax away from the city for two days, you can choose from any of the following options to customize your vacation:

Canyoning — Slide head- and feet-first down waterfalls and channels, jump off rock precipices, gorgeous scenery, experienced guides. Morning and afternoon tours are possible but subject to availability. To find out more, check out this article from a previous canyoning event. There are two different canyoning courses: Fox and Willow.  Fox is the most popular course, easy to access, and for people who haven’t canyon-ed before. Willow is a different ball game, taking approximately 2 hours to traverse, and is for those who are absolutely bursting with energy.

Rafting — Say no more. Get your wetsuit on, put on your helmet, grab some friends, hop into an inflatable raft, grab some oars, and the power is yours (rhymes for days). There is nothing more thrilling than riding on the unstable face of Poseidon with your friends as you laugh, scream, submerge, and emerge as stronger people.

Full Day Adventure — Interested in experiencing more than one of the Canyon courses? Then sign up for our Full Adventure Package. Join the morning canyoning tour, eat lunch provided by Canyons, and then enjoy another one of their courses in the afternoon. The Full Adventure Package is also subject to availability in both morning and afternoon tours.

Canoeing — Want to cruise on the serene waters of the Tone river? Of course you do! This year, canoeing is an option we’re offering! Although canoeing is offered, it’s not through Canyons but a sister company, Lake Walk. Work them forearms as you cause a riptide while you take in all the scenery that Minakami has to offer. They will even shuttle you there and back – what service! Have a squiz.

Bungy Jumping — Ever wake up one morning, and feel the insatiable urge to jump off of a bridge, to only be suspended by elastic rope? Then Bungy Jumping is for you! It’s a bit of a walk from the Canyons Lodge (with no shuttle service), but the thrill is insurmountable. Nothing like pushing yourself to the extreme for that adrenaline rush! Bungy Japan, another sister company to Canyons has you covered.

Mountain Biking — If you thought Minakami couldn’t get any more exciting, MOUNTAIN BIKING. Riding through nature on 2 wheels? Whoever thought up this combination in the perfect location that is Minakami deserves every good thing! A match made in heaven. MTB Japan offers such luxuries, so do have a gander!

Leisure in Minakami — The Minakami area is filled with activities for those who want a more leisurely day: relax next to the river and swim in the watering hole near Canyons, hike or take the ropeway up the Tanigawadake, rent a bike, visit one (or several) of the numerous onsen, or get your traditional craft on at Takumi-no-Sato. Although GAJET is not organising any events, if you don’t want to do canyons but want to spend time with other JETs, there are many things to do in Minakami while others are canyoning. Contact the Tone Reps for more info about things to do 🙂

Barbecue — In the evening, join GAJET for a barbecue of meat, veggies, and yakisoba at Alpine Lodge!

Party time!! — After the BBQ let’s dance the night away. The best part this year is that we have the whole lodge to ourselves, including the DJ wizardy and musical performances of our very own ALTs!

Stay — Don’t want to worry about catching the last train or driving home late? Then spend Saturday night with us at Canyons. Breakfast is included!
