Event Information:

As of today the second stage of Gumna choosing the Gunma AJET council for 2008/2009 begins.

This stage is an election, where Gunma JETs can vote for who they wish to occupy each position. If you would like to vote for candidates, please read this event entry in full.

Voting has now ended, and the new council for 2008/2009 has been chosen. They are:

Treasurer: Kelli Scott
Secretary: Helen Auer
Gunmania Editor: Erin Kessler

Tobu Region Rep: Leanne Costa

Ah, it seems there was a bit of miscommunication as the email he sent me didn't say that. In any case, he asked about the rep and secretary positions via email, so he'll have a choice once the elections are over.

Social!

Well, no one else wants to be the social coordinator and the event planning seems to have suffered this year without one. Why not double check with him? And of course, in the past, region reps have held 1 other position (For example, I was Tone Region Rep AND Gunmania Editor).

Well, that's a matter for debate, but in any case, there was some disagreement within GAJET as to whether we needed a social chair, seeing as we didn't have one this year and we coped reasonably well. Phil emailed me enquiring about the Chubu and Secretary positions before posting on the site, and I think I mistook his eagerness for a bona fide application.

Anyway, I've emailed Phil and we're going to straighten things out.

My SHS had a 60% Korean student body. There were 4 students there named "Jennifer Park" in the 1994-1995 school year.

Spoke to Phil

OK so I spoke to Phil. He said that he wants to be on the council, but wasn't so interested in running against somebody for a position. Consequently, he is going to take the Chubu rep job, and discuss at the early meetings for the new council taking on a measure of the responsibilities normally assumed by a social chair (due to his solid grasp of Japanese, which would be hugely beneficial to GAJET), and Helen Auer, as the remaining candidate, gets the secretary job.

We do still, however, need people to vote for the Tone region rep position, which is between Cynthia Leon and Laura Tajima, as well as needing someone to stand as Seibu region rep.

Sorry for those waiting for this (I was sick yesterday), but I counted the votes this morning, and Cynthia Leon won the election for Tone rep. I'd also like to let everyone know that it was very close-run.
