Deadline for Returner's Packets

Hello Everyone,

I know many of you are already very busy with your preparations for leaving JET but please take the time to put together this Leaver’s Packet. From the Regional Opinion Exchanges, we discovered that a lot of JETs had serious problems with their apartments and their schools. Taking the 20 or 30 minutes to fill out these packets will be an enormous help for the incoming JET and will probably save you the trouble of having to answer a lot of the questions the new JET will have.

Please send the following to me by email by Friday, May 16. In the subject of the email, please include your name and BOE.

- Leaver's Information Sheet (2 Pages)
- Yearly (08-09) Schedule Please check with the head of your English Department
- Sample Weekly Schedule
- 1 Lesson Plan with Explanations
- Picture of the outside of your apartment
- Anything else you would like to include

At the Leaver's Conference (early June), please give me a map when you sign in. The map should include the following:

- Your name and school (labeled at the top of the map)
- Your apartment
- School(s)
- Route to school you take
- 1 Supermarket/Food store you use
- Emergency Evacuation Site Ask a JTE to help you

Have other BOEs told people

Have other BOEs told people whether or not they are getting a successor yet? I haven't been told anything; though my city seems to be moving towards taking on private ALTs.

Fill it out anyway!

Your BOE will probably only tell you if they are making a change, but not if they will continue on the same next year. Most BOEs will have decided that information already, as the budgets for this year have most likely been decided.

As far as we know, everyone who has been sent the packet by email will be getting a JET successor next year.

If in doubt, assume that you will have a successor and fill out the form anyway. It only takes a few moments, but could potentially make someone's transition here much easier.

It would be nice if your successor has the information in the packets. You could probably give it to your BOE and ask them to give it to your successor.

Yearly Schedule

What is a yearly schedule?
Is it the one that tells you all the inportant dates for the school year?
If it is I have a hard copy and not a electronical one.

I tried to get a digital copy but my computer wasn't able to read it.

judith. for some reason, around one in every 2 or 3 mails i send to you fails. i don't know why. i've just now received yet another failed delivery report for the email i sent you a few days ago. anyway, i've resent it. let's just hope it arrives. sorry to keep u waiting.
