Speech Contest Ideas - Any Pointers?

So, I had a student ask me to help her find a speech for the contest. The only thing she could think of was "I have a dream," and she's smart enough to know that's a little over done.

I'd like to give her a few choices and let her pick... having witnessed the horrid consequences of a student flop after a teacher recommended she try some new, different, and... explanatory. Ouch.

Does anyone have any good resources to suggest? The student looking for help didn't seem to lean one way or the other on anything but did mention she's interested in medicine/health.

Thanks for any ideas!

I don't have any specific ideas, but...

I don't have any specific ideas, but you might be able to find something with a little research. Look for something that sounds good, but that she will be able to understand the meaning off (perhaps with some study).

In the past, I have altered speeches and short stories for students to use, and that sometimes works well.

Keep in mind that the judges might not like anything "too unique". I hope that helps.
