New JET in KiryuSubmitted by fishandspaghetti on Wed, 2008/06/18 - 16:32.
Hi everyone, My name is Galen and I'm going to be in Kiryu in August. Is there someone here who currently lives/works in Kiryu who could let me know more about it? I don't know who my predecessor is or what school I'll be in... I'm basically just hoping someone will introduce themselves and tell me about how Kiryu is really awesome. Thanks! -Galen |

heya!
I:m one of the kiryu folk that you may be replacing. I will be leaving in September so i:ll probably get to meet ya when you come here.
Kiryu is something special depending on who you talk to. Its a small town with not much to do but you are coming to gunma-ken afterall. The good thing is that there are 13 JHS JETS and 3 high school JETS so we got a lotta ppl. the ppl totally make this place. Kiryu is beautiful. We are surrounded by mountains. The ppl (japanese) are great and so are the students. If you have any specific questions please fire away. I gurantee you:ll have a wicked time!
Hi Galen! I'm also one of
Hi Galen!
I'm also one of the 7 other people you might be replacing. I've been here for 2 years and I think Ms G-Monaaaay has summarised Kiryu up in her reply. We're all pretty close, so all the remaining JETs here will definitely help you out after we leave. A lot of them probably don't look at this site, so if you have Facebook, please add me (Jennifer Luk) and I can introduce you to them. Or just ask any questions on here too.
Hope that helps a bit!
Hehehe...
Yeah, most of the JETs in Kiryu are pretty computer illiterate! :P
Yes,
I do have Facebook, so if everyone's using that I guess it would be better for me to meet everyone that way. But which Jennifer Luk are you?
Hey Hey Galen. How do you
Hey Hey Galen. How do you pronounce your name? I'm Annie and I live in Kiryu now but am moving to Ota, but you are moving to maybe one of the best set-ups in Gunma. The JETs here are all really close and cool and Kiryu has awesome hiking, and every once and awhile some cool shows. There's cooking classes and the town-hall has lots of English info as well English books at the library. Overall, everyone in the town is really friendly. I'm not sure who you are replacing but anywhere I think would be good and you are going to need a bicycle. PEACE!
