Fujioka Shimin Daiko will be having their 5th annual Koharu Concert Sunday, August 31st in Fujioka. This year we are doing things bigger and better, and have also moved to a larger venue than previous concerts (same venue as Taiko Emotion for those of you who attended the November concert). Come see current JET Ken Arcieri and ex-JETs Scott Fukayama and Brandt Kato perform, along with Mugen, our kid's team and current champions of the Gunma Prefectural Junior Taiko Competition. Also, this is a great introduction to taiko so if you've got a newbie coming into your area why don't you bring them along to get some culturing. Tickets are a steal at only 1000 yen, so come on and check out one of the largest amateur groups in the prefecture, with nearly 60 performers, and the largest taiko drum in Gunma.

Event Location:

Large Hall, Mikabomiraikan, Fujioka City
みかぼみらい館
群馬県藤岡市藤岡2738番地

By Car:
From Takasaki take route 17 toward Honjo/Kumagaya. Turn onto route 13 toward Fujioka and stay in the right hand lane. Follow route 13 for about 5 km/10 min until you hit route 254. Turn left onto route 254 and drive about 1 km. The entrance will be on your right at the stoplight just before a tunnel.

By Train:
It is also possible to take the train to JR Gummafujioka Station and then take a taxi to the hall. Buses are also available but the connection times are terrible. You could also walk from the station but it's a good 20-30 mins to the hall.

Event Contact Information:

Tickets can be purchased directly from the venue or on the day of the event, however I would strongly advise getting tickets in advance as they are selling out quickly. You can also get tickets from me provided that you let me know by August 24th. Unfortunately I can not guarantee availability. Please email me with any questions you may have or to purchase tickets at scott@japan-guide.com
