Tokyo English Life Line is creating a new wiki-based website, and is hoping for contributions that will go towards helping current English speakers all over Japan obtain important living information at their fingertips. As well, TELL hopes for more exposure in local communities by having JETs and other English speakers distribute awareness materials in their area. Please take a look at the post below, and don't hesitate to contact them if you think you can be of help!

Need to talk? We're here to listen.
Tokyo English Life Line (TELL) is a non-profit organization that has been providing information and emotional support in English to the international and Japanese communities throughout Japan for over 35 years now. TELL would like to further reach out to people all over Japan to raise awareness of the Life Line and launch a new TELL service.
In October, TELL will launch a wiki-style online information portal where people can search for services provided in English in their area. Best of all, this site allows anyone to add services for English speakers in their area with the hope of covering all of Japan in the next 12 months. This means that current JETs can contribute to this site for the good of future JETs and all English speakers in their communities. Featured services include medical, legal, counseling, daily living, government and churches. This is not a commercial site but instead relies on our team of volunteers and funds that we have receive through donations.
In addition to the Life Line and our new online information portal, TELL will be increasing online mental health resources to better assist the foreign community living outside of the major cities. It is hoped this material will better inform people about issues such as depression, stress, cultural adaptation and substance abuse with an emphasis on prevention and information about treatments available.
TELL needs your help! Please help TELL to spread the word about its services by distributing brochures and wallet cards to JETs in your area. These materials can be handed to JETs directly or placed in a local bar, restaurant or city hall. To express your interest, please contact
gam@ajet.net with your name, prefecture, address and an estimate of how many copies you would like by Thursday 25th September and TELL will post these to you in early October.
