:::::Volunteer Opportunity with *Building Communities **India** *– Winter Vacation 2008-2009:::::

Are you looking for a life-changing experience this Winter Break?

If so, please consider joining us in "*Building Communities* " with the Dalit
(*Untouchables* ) of India.

- Work Camp: December 23, 2008 – January 3, 2009
- Sign-up Deadline: ASAP (Reply to anniefalch@yahoo.com)
- Location: Gummallapadu Village and Kothasatram-Indirinagar Villages, Andhra Pradesh State* *
*Building Communities India* is an International Volunteer Project through
AJET's Go MAD. We are dedicated to providing the means and resources to
build communities, both the physical structures and the support and
compassion necessary for a community to thrive.

We are finishing construction of 49 homes for Dalit families in Gummallapadu Village, that are mostly headed by widows. This low-lying village often floods causing the families current mud huts to be insufficient. The houses would secure safe, clean places for these families, and…WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Due to the villagers' status as Dalit, or *Untouchables*, it is difficult to receive government assistance. However, through the popularity of this project each family has been able to secure a government grant and Habitat for Humanity loan. Your involvement with Building Communities India will work wonders in empowering the villagers to effect positive change in their own
lives.
