We usually just do day
We usually just do day trips, so I can't help you there. But places like the Book Off near Takasaki Station, or any Hard Off or Off House (anything with "Off" basically) will have a TON of used boards, skis and gear right now. I actually just bought a nice new snowboard jacket from Book Off for 4500 yen.

I'll be riding every weekend once the hills open up. Always looking for a partner. Probably will do some weekend trips away, but mostly kicking around Gunma.

hard off
I second the hard off suggestions. I bought a halfway decent board with bindings for 5000yen there a while back. there is also a outlet store in Takasaki on route 17, but I only ever find it by luck, but its has a lot of cheap stuff pre-season. Also the Smark department store in Isesaki has a sports store that was full of good deals on really good gear about this time last year. Unfortunately I wont be boarding this year due to an injury, but have fun man. If you go to Nagano, I highly recommend Nozawa onsen ski resort.
Snow weekends
I run a lodge in Minakami. Let me know if you guys want a package for accommodation and lift tickets.

Secondhand Snowboard Gear
To anyone who is looking to buy second hand gear I have discovered a great store on route 17. The name of the store is B Sports and is next to Book Off and just across the road from Gunma TV. They also seem to stock big sizes of fairly decent boots. I picked up a pair of last seasons Northwave Legend boots for 4400 yen, a bargain. They have a big selection of boards, bindings, boots and wear at great prices. Hard Off has some bits and pieces but this place seems to specialize in boarding and skiing. Get down there before all the good stuff is gone. If yoyu are in store between 6 and 7 pm there is an added 2% discount. Happy boarding folks!
