Spam and User & Post Deletions

Hi all,

Some of you might have noticed that we are getting a decent amount of spam these days. I'm doing my best to stay on top of it, but it does creep in.

We are going to start a few new policies to try and curb spamming and to make spammers easier to delete.

GAJET Elections

Folks.
The time has come around for nominations for the GAJET council elections.
The election will vote in the council members for the 2010 - 2011 JET year.
ALL positions are up for grabs so if you feel running for council please nominate yourself for ONLY ONE of the positions below. (Recontracting people only )
The nomination period is from now untill Friday March 26th. If you intend to run in the GAJET council election please e-mail me at gajetvp@gmail.com and let me know which position you intend to run for.
The voting period will be between Monday March 29th - Friday April 30th 12.00 noon.

The main responsibilities of the GAJET council is to organise all of the GAJET events that run through out the year ie. Sumo trip, Christmas enkai, beer garden events, Halloween party etc. Other responsibilities include organising local community activities such as visiting the orphanage, charity coin drive and blood donation event.

POSITIONS

1 President -
Basically you make sure things get done.(GAJET EVENTS ) A lot of emailing and finding people to make phone calls in Japanese (if you don't speak Japanese). You are also the liaison for National AJET. You also get first dibs on helping out with all the orientations.

2- Vice-President:
Similar to president. Less emailing though. Pres and VP are buddies.

3 - Secretary:
Take notes at meetings. This is actually very important as the Pres delegates duties and can't remember who is doing what.
4 - Treasure: Keeps the money and receipts in order.

5 - Gunmania Editor:

6 - Gunmania Design - Web type stuff to keep the gunmania site up and running

7 - Web master - Control of Gunmajet.net

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES

8 - Chubu Region: Maebashi, Ikaho, Tamamura, Miyagi, Kasukawa, Ogo, Akabori, Sakai, Takasaki.

9 - Tone Region: Minakami, Katashina, Numata, Showa, Kawaba.

10 - Tobu Region: Azuma, Kurohone, Omama, Nissato, Tatabayashi, Kiryu, Ota, Kasakake, Yabuzukahonmachi, Nitta, Ojima, Oizumi, Oura, Chiyoda, Meiwa, Akagi, Itakura, Isesaki.

10- Seibu Region: Fujioka, Kanna, Ueno, Yoshii, Tomioka, Shimonita, Haruna, Kurabuchi, Shinmachi, Gunmamachi, Misato, Nanmoku, Matsuida, Annaka, Shimonita, Myogi, Nakazato, Manba.

Bus to Kyoto inquiry

Hey everybody,

If I remember correctly, I was told that there is an overnight bus to Kyoto that leaves from Takasaki. Has anyone taking it, know how much it costs and/if there is a website (preferably in English) where I can buy the tickets? Thanks!

Maebashi Special Needs Class

Event Information:

This month's special needs class in Maebashi will be on March 20th. It starts at 10:30 and ends at 11:30.

For those of us that don't drive, we meet at Maebashi station at 10am and get a ride to the location.

If you do drive and need directions, please contact me so I can pass you along to someone who can get you directions.

The class is very casual and doesn't require any preparation. The kids are a lot of fun and the sun is usually shining after class.

Surfboard w/bag and small sofa for sale

I'll be moving back home and I need to sell some things. I live in Shibukawa.

Takasaki Castle Tour and Zen Meditation Experience

The English tour guides of Takasaki invite you to experience historical Takasaki.

We'll begin at Takasaki City Hall, then walk to Yorimasu Shrine, Ryukoji Temple, Ninjyo Market, and Sister Cities Park, finally heading to Choshoji Park to learn about and participate in Zen meditation.

If we are lucky, we will be able to view cherry blossoms!

The tour will begin at 9:00am, and end around 3:30 pm. We'll luncheon at Ninjyo Market.

The Night of the Ad Eaters

Event Information:

The Night of the AdEaters is a show that runs in more that 40 countries worldwide dedicated to showing the production of advertising among 60 different nationalities on the big screen and in a crazy atmosphere.

The event, created in 1981 by Jean Marie Boursicot, started in France, and quickly conquered the rest of the world. The tour included Japan since 1999, and its dates include Maebashi as well.

The event, which is scheduled for March 22 at the Gunma Kaikan (Otemachi 2-1-1), will show about 200 commercials selected from all over the world for their imaginative power and originality.

There will be two showings, from 1pm to 4pm, and from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are priced between 2500 and 3000 yen.

Takasaki Film Festival

Through March 27 to April 11, the Takasaki Film Festival will offer you the opportunity to watch whatever you prefer among 63 foreign and national movies over 16 days, during which the films will be shown in three different venues in Takasaki City: Takasaki Bunka Kaikan (Suehirocho 23-1) Takasaki Cinematheque (Aramachi 60-1) and Takasaki City Gallery (Takamatsucho 35-1).

The pass for the whole festivalcosts 12000 yen, while the single tickets are sold at the door for 1200 yen. There is also a 5 shows bargain ticket available for 4600 yen.

The festival is held every spring, and this is the 24rd edition.
Well-known film stars and directors are invited to appear at the prize-giving ceremony of the festival, which is scheduled for on March 28 at the Takasaki Bunka Kaikan, and will be preceded by the viewing of a movie. The ticket for this event costs 1500 yen.
