Tokyo gaming

I'm trying to find a place in Tokyo, where I could take an (electronic) game researcher, who is visiting Japan next weekend. What is the biggest and most beautiful arcade game hall, where do you buy games, exhibitions, etc, anything worth visiting? As far as I've understood, Akihabara is the place to go, but does anyone have more detailed tips or information?

Go to Akihabara; you can't walk more than 10 yards without seeing all the things you'd be after.
