If you missed the last Nekolove show in August you missed one hell of a party! This Friday (11/7) Nekolove (www.myspace.com/nekoloveinjapan)will be playing once again at Club Fleez. This time we're bringing some friends along with us. Super Hands, a brand new ALT gaijin band from Isesaki (Phil's band) will be joining us to tear the house down. Even if your not a fan of live music, you have 2 gaijin bands playing which means, at the very least, it should be a fun gaijin friendly event (read: everyone will be there!). Doors open at 6:00 (show starts at 6:30) Super Hands goes on at 8:30-9:00 and Nekolove goes on at 9:10 - 9:40. There will be 5 bands total and tickets are 2000yen+drink. BUT, if you email me and tell me you want to go, I'll put your name on "the list" and you can get in for 1500yen+drink. This show is only for people who like to have fun, please leave your mamma at home. Thank you... rock on.

OBJECTIVE
a: Enhance international exchange and understand cultural differences.
b: Motivate desire toward the learning of the Japanese language.
c: Present the achievements accomplished in learning Japanese.

SPEECH SUBJECT AND FORM
Any subject that meets the objective. Audio/visual aids are allowed.

DURATION OF SPEECH
The standard duration of speech is about five minutes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Gunma residents of who are not native Japanese speakers.

OTHERS
There will be no ranking, but participants will be given participation awards and a selected few will be given special awards.
General questions will be accepted after the contest to deepen the exchange experience.
If there are too many applications, participants will be selected based on the speech contents. Selected participant will be notified in advance.

Apply as soon as you can, since the deadline is actually already passed. If you need the application form, mail me and I'll send it to you!

Yeah it's just me...Eddie...playing yet again. But for those of you who saw the Nekolove show last Saturday I would have to encourage you all to see the original versions of the most of the songs. Music and drinks...You can't lose. Probably starts around 10 or 10:30.

Fujioka Shimin Daiko will be having their 5th annual Koharu Concert Sunday, August 31st in Fujioka. This year we are doing things bigger and better, and have also moved to a larger venue than previous concerts (same venue as Taiko Emotion for those of you who attended the November concert). Come see current JET Ken Arcieri and ex-JETs Scott Fukayama and Brandt Kato perform, along with Mugen, our kid's team and current champions of the Gunma Prefectural Junior Taiko Competition. Also, this is a great introduction to taiko so if you've got a newbie coming into your area why don't you bring them along to get some culturing. Tickets are a steal at only 1000 yen, so come on and check out one of the largest amateur groups in the prefecture, with nearly 60 performers, and the largest taiko drum in Gunma.

It's what you want, It's what you need, it's what you've been waiting for. Goodness. Pure unadulterated goodness. And awsomeness. Goodness AND awsomness. Both of them... together... at last. If you could eat this event it would taste like lobster stuffed with tacos. That good. I'm serious.

Thursday, June 12th at Club Fleez in Takasaki, Nekolove returns to the stage. We have a new drummer and some new tunes that we are really excited to show off. So if you're in Takasaki and you're not busy, come down and check it out. And if you are busy and not in Takasaki, cancel your plans, get on a train and get to the show! It's good for ya'!;-)

Okay, so here's the ugly part. Venues in Japan essentially are all pay to play, meaning the band is required to sell X amount of tickets or pay the difference out of thier own pockets to play a show. We did the math and each of us in the band has to sell 7 tickets to break even. The tickets are 1,500yen from us and 2000yen at the door. If you tell me you're coming A) I can get you a ticket for the cheaper price and B) you help me get rid of all my tickets. It's a win win situation. So If your going and you what me to hold you a ticket, please leave a reply to this post or email me. Cool.

I left a bunch of tickets at Odessa in Takasaki. They open at 9:00pm. You can buy them there (and drink a beer at same time!) too.

Eddie McCarty (singer/guitar/songwriter) will be carrying the Nekolove banner on his own this Saturday night at Gunma’s famous Odessa Bar in Takasaki. He'll be playing some Nekolove songs and some originals. Come check him out, it’s a guarenteed good time!

Odessa opens at 9:00pm and Eddie starts (around) 10:00pm. And best of all it's FREE!

So if you've ever seen that movie "The Swamp Thing" and the part at the end where they cut off his arm but because he's not in the sunlight he can't photosynthesis and he's all hurt n' stuff. And then a beam of sunshine starts coming through the window and then like a little sprout starts coming back and growing into a new arm and then he excapes, kicks everyones ass and saves Adrienne Barbeau in the end. Anyways, that's exactly what's happening to Nekolove right now.

We lost our Adrian and have been laying low. However lately we've been meeting and playing and we're going to do a casual acoustic show at Odessa in Takasaki on Saturday night. If you've been waiting for the "ass kicking" triumphant return of Nekolove... this is not it. If you're sitting around on Saturday night, and you're in the Takasaki area and you feel like grabbing a beer and listening to some gaijin playing some acoustic music out of key, then come on down and have a beer with us. We've been playing with Mike Flow from the famed gaijin Fugi rockers Nikujaga and he might play some solo stuff, play some stuff with us, whatever. It's gonna be loose and it's gonna be fun. We'll see you Saturday!

In case you happened to miss Eddie (of the world famous Gunma gaijin rock band Nekolove http://www.myspace.com/nekoloveinjapan) Jan. 16th at Club Fleez, you now have the chance to rectify your silly, silly mistake. Last Wednesday's show was hands down fantabulous!!! The turnout was great! I was suprised how many people showed up for a Wednesday night gig. But hearing Eddie's set, it made sense why so many people were there, Eddie is a truly special singer/song writer. If you see him once, you'll become a fan! I make it everyone who reads this's obligation, neh... DUTY to see Eddie McCarty at least once. And what better opportunity than at the Club Fleez 4th anniverary show?

And if Eddie McCarty isn't enough to get you off the couch...I've seen Slunky Side http://www.myspace.com/slunkyside before at Club Fleez and they absolutly blew the doors off the place, no kidding. If you like classic guitar rock in the spirit of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but up to date enough to keep it relevent and original, then you have to see these guys!

Yes Ladies and Gentlemen. It is true... Iron Madien is coming to Tokyo. I'm not going to try to write some funny or witty banter to try to get you to go. You either already know that Iron Maiden is one the greatest bands that has ever walked the face of this planet, or you will never know. Poor, poor you.

At any rate, being The Trooper that I am, I have purchased my singular ticket for Saturday, February 16th (they are also playing in Yokohama Friday the 15th. The show is sold out but on the band website they say that some tickets might free up the day of the gig. FYI) and am going. If there is anyone else out there that would like to join me, you can buy your tickets at Lawsons, they cost 9,500yen, doors open at 4, show starts at 5 (standing room only, so the sooner we arrive, the better spots we get).
