TICKET PURCHASING IS OVER... but it's not too late to go. If you still want to go email and I'll teach you how to buy your own ticket at Lawson's

-------------
Batter up! Spring is finally here, and that means the wild world of Japanese besuboru is starting its official 2008 season. If you've never seen Japan's professional version of this popular American pastime, you're in for a treat. Fan activity in the stands belies the stereotypes about reserved, composed Japanese behavior; sometimes it's hard to know where to look -- at the players on the field, or at the half-crazed pylon-waving maniacs all around you?
GAJET is proud to sponsor a trip to a May Pacific League evening matchup between the Seibu Lions and the Yomiuri Giants at the Goodwill Dome (formerly Seibu Dome) in Tokorozawa-shi, Saitama.
lions.jpgTokyoYomiuriGiants2.GIF
We'll carpool to the Goodwill Dome, home of the Seibu Lions (Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka's former team). We'll watch some ball, gorge ourselves silly on snacks and beer, shout ourselves mute with cheering, and try to avoid being trampled by thousands of screaming Lions and Giants fans. Sounds like fun, ne?

Tickets for the outfield (a lot more fun than the infield, in my opinion, and cheap to boot!) are ¥1600. The game starts at 1pm but we will want to arrive several hours before that to reserve a good sprawling spot in the outfield. As usual, if you want to attend please comment below or send an email to gajet.admin [at] gmail DOT com BY MAY 10th at noon. Please also tell me if you're willing to drive, and if so, how many passengers (other than yourself) you can fit. Once I have all the sign-ups, I will arrange suitable carpools.

Sumo Trip - Spring 2007

2007/05/26 - 09:00
2007/05/26 - 18:30
Event Information:

Cost: ¥3,600

If you're going home, this will be your last chance to be a part of the excitement of a live sumo match. Come drink and talk with friends as titans clash below you. It will be on the second to last day, so the drama will be high. If you have never seen a 150kg man fly through the air, you must come on this trip.

-----

Sorry, I didn't update this along with the group email posts. The advanced ticket reservations already passed. But people can still try to get seats if they show up to the tournament really early. They will sell out quickly, so it will take some luck.

Event Location:

Kokugikan Arena, Tokyo

Event Directions:

Take the train down to Tokyo. From Akihabara(秋葉原), get on the JR Sobu line towards Chiba. Get off at Ryogoku(両国) Station. The arena is right next to the station, but you might exit from the wrong side. Look for the large building with flags around.

Fall Sumo Tournament Trip

2006/09/23 - 18:00
Event Information:

Saturday, September 23rd
9:00a.m.-6:00p.m.
Kokugikan Arena, Tokyo
Cost: ¥3600 for tournament tickets, plus extra for the train fare to/from Tokyo
*Deadline to sign up: September 1st

The fall sumo tournament is coming up in late September. We're going to get a group together to watch sumo as one should: live, with a beer in the hand, and friends by your side.
No one is ever disappointed when they go down to watch sumo. It really is amazing to watch two 150kg+ giants face off, slam into each other, grapple, and at times, fly through the air after a winning throw.
But the seats go quickly, so the deadline for signing up is Friday, September 1st.
