2008/08/30 - 18:00 2008/08/30 - 23:00 Event Information: "Isesaki Fireworks Display * Festival/Convention Start: 2008/08/30 - 00:00 People come from not only Gunma, but all around Japan to see this amazing display that involves the launch of 30,000 rockets over a period of 90 minutes. It will be held on the 30th of August and viewable from such places as Seibu Koen, Love River Shinsui Koen and so on which you can walk to from Isesaki Station in about 15 minutes or drive to from Komagata Highway Exit in 10 minutes. The Joshu Natsu Matsuri (summer festival) features Gunma foods, famous products, Neputa, fashion shows, dancing demonstrations and music performances. 2008/08/01 - 19:00 2008/08/03 - 21:00 Event Information: Kiryu will hold it's annual Yagibushi festival on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of August. The main streets of Kiryu will be filled with fantastic food, drink and (most importantly) lots of Yagibushi dancing!!! The festival is very easy to find. Get off the train at 'Kiryu' and follow the crowds, lanterns and Yagibushi music! Hope to see you all there!! Event Location: Kiryu city center (3mins walk from train station). Event Directions: Take the right hand exit out of Kiryu station, walk to the cross roads (interesction) on your right you will see McDonalds. Take the right and walk past McDonalds. If you can't see, hear and smell the festival from here you're in the wrong town!! 2008/08/23 - 00:00 2008/08/23 - 23:59 Event Information: The Takasaki Baykui Kannon Candle Festival, called “Mandoe万灯会(まんどうえ)” will have over 10000 candles and lanterns will line the path all the way up to the foot of the Hibiki Bridge. Visitors come and pray for such things as their ancestors, safety of their homes and families and success in business. The festival will be held on the 23rd of August at Kannon Yama Jigenji Shrine. Head up to the Oohinata Bridge in Nanmoku on the 14th and 15th of August to catch the action. 2008/08/14 - 00:00 2008/08/15 - 23:59 Event Information: Based off of Aomori Prefecture’s Hirosaki’s Lantern festival, the Ojima Lantern Festival will have 15 large and small lanterns hanging against the backdrop of a summer night sky while taiko and other music play in the background. Don’t miss this event! It will take place from Thursday, August 14th through Friday, August 15th on Ojima shouten oodori along Route 354. 2008/08/09 - 00:00 2008/08/09 - 23:59 Event Information: The Maebashi Fireworks Display on the 9th of August around the Owatari bridge. This is known as one of the best fireworks displays in Northern Kanto and includes the launch of starmines, the Niagra fire falls off the Owatari Bridge and the “Niagra in the sky” as it is called, a firework which is said to have originated in Maebashi. There will also be a variety of other fireworks on show, making for a wonderful night scene. 2008/08/03 - 00:00 2008/08/06 - 23:59 Event Information: This wonderful festival will be held from the 3rd of August to the 6th of August and will include such things as a performance by the winning team of the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, tradition hula dancing and Hawaiian music. The festival will be held in Ikaho host spring resort, just a 20 minute drive from the Shibukawa-Ikaho highway interchange.
